…Laconic wisdom from her womb shall admonish our fates. Catharsis has seemed to fade away…far away past the rivers end. Shore to shore she cries to be emancipated once again, denying the sycophant of his words where taciturn shall fall to courage. Harbingers of old scale her body dismissing acrimony and guide us back to mortality… ostracizing the venal souls of this land. She begs us back and toward her we shall walk… one moment at a time, one whisper, back to the greatness she once was, back to glorification, back to America…
Have any of you taken time to step back from the redundancy of life to see what our country has become? It wasn’t long ago when men and women sailed across oceans to escape religious persecution; now we dismiss religion altogether, proclaiming God has no place in government. It wasn’t long ago when going to war meant making enemies surrender by any means necessary; now we are compelled to wage pointless dialogue, instead of doing what it takes to uphold justice. It wasn’t long ago when medals of valor were rewarded for the selfless protection of this country; now we punish our patriots with trials and shame. It wasn’t long ago when a teacher could reprimand a child for a wrongdoing; now people who wish to instill guidance risk a lawsuit against them. It wasn’t long ago when people traveled the frontier in search of life, liberty, and happiness; now people stand still, and expect life, liberty, and happiness to be given to them. It wasn’t long ago when immigrants came to this country with nothing, expecting nothing; now they expect to be given food, shelter, and healthcare as allowance. It wasn’t long ago when America was the model for freedom; now we have succumb to socialist movements, mockery of our laws, and the outward assault of what makes this country great; capitalism.
This was started not by the hands of democrats or republicans, Baptists or atheists, the poor or the rich, black or white, employed or unemployed, conservative or liberal, but rather the summation of stupidity and ignorance possessed by Americans today. I have listened far too long, the whining about racism, the begging of poor, the incapacity of the wicked, the pleading of the guilty and the brandishing of words and promises to control those listed above. We have lost what it means to be American, what it means to wake up and fight, tooth and nail for our dreams, for our survival, burdening no fellow man for our failure.
I never thought there would be a time when doing absolutely nothing in life embodied what it means to be American. Why do we as a society, as a culture of go-getters, accept laws by our government to continually take money from the working class, or what I like to call it, the American class? Why do we as a society reward the weak? This country was built from the ground up on blood, sweat, and tears, and no man, noble, or slave, shall take more credit than the other in claiming responsibility for America’s greatness. There are people that wake up every day and struggle to take care of their families, to survive, and ask nothing in return. There are people who give from their own pockets, when there is hardly any money to give. There are so many instances where capitalism has made Americans great, yet we are so quick to abandon its principles. Capitalism, combined with democracy, puts power in people, in ideas, in inventions, in consumerism, in markets, in society. Capitalism, in reference to cultural behavior, is a role-model structure; meaning that “I want to do things better, do things smarter than the person before me.” This produces a society of hardworking and competitive people. It produces Americans.
If you start taking away rewards of labor via taxation, you cripple the model of competition and you cripple capitalism. Further, you cripple the model of competition by taking the tax money, collected from the working class, and distributing it to people who are too weak to risk their own blood, sweat, and tears. When the government takes it upon themselves to distribute money taken from the working class, there is no money left in the working class for their own charity efforts, which destroys American compassion. Capitalism requires a class system. What incentive do I have to work hard if I will end up the same as someone who doesn’t work hard? Absolutely none. This is where America is headed. This isn’t about politics or movements; this is about you. This is about being free… free to have a choice in the outcome of your life; to reap the fruits of your labor; to reward those around you for your successes; to strive to be everything your potential allows. Take the “Me” out of America because America doesn’t exist for you… America exists in you…
